So I’m going to change up how we approach the WODs here. Generally, I’ve just been listing our programming daily as a quick little blurb. It was brought to my attention that in my old blog (where I attempted 365 workouts and beers in 365 days) I used to actually discuss the workouts and it might be a good idea to get back to that. So here we go.

Today was a bit of a celebration. One of our athletes, who has been unable to train lately, was gifted a year of training by his sister. A bunch of us came in at 6:00am under the rouse of doing some benchmark workouts (which he was told he was required to be at), when he was actually being presented with his gift and some chocolate birthday cake by his whole family (gym family included…and paleo cake, of course). We weren’t to be fooled, though. The benchmark WODs were not a rouse! We met with two nasty bitches this morning..back to back.

First up…Grace.

30 Clean and Jerks (135/95#) for time.

I shaved ten seconds off of my Grace time from last October at the Barbells for Boobs event, getting it down to 4:23, but my goal is to get a sub-4:00 time.  There is still work to be done, and lest rest to be taken.

Some might leave well enough alone, but we then hopped on the rower to kick off Jackie.

1000m Row
50 Thrusters (65/45#)
30 Pull Ups

It’s not fun. Well, it is fun…in that “this is terrible, but great” kind of way. Half of us met with Grace first, while the other half attacked Jackie and the consensus was: There is no good order to do these in. Either way you’re winded and tired so you best just get on with it.

All in all it was a great morning, and a fantastic start to the weekend. Sometimes the girls just have to get together.
